Off Seasons & Team Meetings

Like many businesses, LCRB Inspectors also have more time – They tend to use this to catch up on their inspections. That means it’s a great time to have a staff meeting; especially if you are experiencing a seasonal staff change over:

Remind your team what to expect when an Inspector visits your work place. Make sure they know what documents and records that will be requested; and where to find them. Explain your expectations with regard to ID checking, minors in general, over-service, and of the specific requirements for your licence type.

Running an effective staff meeting in a bar requires balancing a relaxed environment with clear operational focus. Hold these 2 to 4 times a year, lasting 20 to 40 minutes, or up to 2 hours if paired with detailed training, or skills like cocktail making. Do have pre-shift huddles as required, of 5 to 10 minutes to cover immediate shift needs.

Most importantly, make a record of your meetings and huddles, including what was discussed, and who was present. This is not only great business practice, it also demonstrates ‘Due Diligence’.
