Large events with liquor service in BC are most often staged by community-based volunteer groups and non-profit societies. The events themselves normally serve as fundraising activities that benefit those communities.

In British Columbia, the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) assesses and reviews all large events (over 500 people) that intend to provide liquor service. Approval for these events is secured by applying for a Special Event Permit.
